I was trying to factory rest my laptop because I am going to sell it. I attempted to do the factory rest but I got an error message and now my laptop won't pass the acer logo. What do I do now?

Usually, a laptop refusing to leave the startup screen is a sign of some bad data on the hard drive. Essentially, it's trying to load Windows, but for some reason or another, it can't. Since computers are dumb, it just sits on that loading screen eternally because it doesn't know what else to do.

I'd say something probably happened during the reset that either damaged your hard drive or Windows itself. You've got a few options here:

1. Reset the PC from the boot menu. If you can get it to open, select troubleshoot > reset this PC. I'd try this before anything else.

2. Did the laptop come with any discs when you bought it? Sometimes laptops will come with support discs that allow you to reinstall Windows. Obviously, this wont...

3. You can try contacting Acer's customer support. I've never worked with them personally, so I'm not sure how helpful they can be. They may be able to send you a support disc or flash drive, or they may just say "sucks for you." It's always worth a shot.

4. If you'd still like to sell it working and you're willing to spend a little, you could take it to a professional. They can do a clean install of Windows for you.

5. If you just want it off your hands, there's a pretty active repair community on eBay and such like that. You can probably still get a couple bucks with it by selling it as a nonworking/for parts item. Trust me, it'd probably go quick since it's not a hard fix for a hobbyist to do.

Good luck!
