Acer Won't come on

We have an Acer Aspire e 15 Start. It was working fine and now won't turn on. It doesn't light up when charging. I have tried taking the back off to find the battery but there doesn't seem to be one. There is a tiny pin hole with a pic of a battery but when you take the back off there isn't one.

There definitely is a battery and I know that because my wife is using her's now with no electrical support.

I don't know why that pinhole is there - maybe to tell you where it is. It's probably a long thin cylindrical shaped object. You may need to push a pin into that hole to release it so the back comes away completely.

I have tried pushing inside the hole and it doesn't even push all the way thru the plastic cover. I took the cover off and stuck a paper clip in it to see what happens and it doesn't come thru. There are a couple of pieces of plastic looking stuff that attaches to both the cover and underside of the key board. I am afraid to pull it apart. Do you have a picture of what the battery should look like? I don't know much about this stuffand don't want to tear it up.

I couldn't wrench my wife off her laptop earlier but I have now.

The pinhole you referred to is actually a bit larger than a pin on hers and you need to drag that across the oval it sits in and that releases the battery. There is a very feint arrow you probably missed and so did I at first. A bal pont pen should do the job.

There is no way to slide the thing you are talking about. The back of the laptop doesn't look like any of the videos I have watched. Is there a way to show you some pictures of the back of it so you can see what I am talking about?

Most folks how post pictures here use the hosting outfit www.imgur.com and it would certainly be helpful to see the base to compare it with the one we have here. That is a slider to release the battery, which can be seen at the back of the base.

My bad - it's not the sme as my wife's. This site http/www.cdsparts.com/p-7204-new-acer-aspire-es1-131-es1-331-es1-512-es1-520-laptop-battery-3-cell-ac14b13j.aspx shows what it looks like and you would have to crack the box open to find it.

Having removed all the screws and laid them out on a piece of paper marked with the location of each one, and slid the CD/DVD out of place unit, use a plastic bank card to open the gap between the bottom from the bezel surrounding the keyboard..

Look for those two pairs of screws on one of the leading edges of the battery and remove them. It's best to buy the replacement first so you know exactly what you're looking for. If you feel the job is beyond you, take teh laptop and the new battery to a local PC Fixer. Chances are they've already done one - I have yet to come across this model so I can't tell you much more.
