1. What is your budget?
$750 is the max I'd like to pay.
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Preferably 13 or 14 inch. If the laptop is 15 inches I'll still consider it, but smaller is better for me.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
1080p
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Nah I have a strong desktop for gaming, but I'd like it to be fairly powerful.
5. How much battery life do you need?
The more the better. This is for college and I spend all day on campus between work and school so the less time I'm plugged into an outlet the better.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
If it can game, yay if not its not a big deal. I have an i5 and r9 380 in my desktop for gaming.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Light programming in IDEs like Codeblocks
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
SSD is a must. If i can get a small ssd and a hdd then that's great. Prefer 128 or 256gb. I know 512gb are way to expensive.
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Bestbuy.com, Amazon.com, Newegg.com
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I need it for the next 3-4 years for college
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
it's 2017 so i'm good.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I've had good luck with Dell. Please no Samsung or Toshiba. Ill consider an Acer if its rated well but I'm a little reluctant to trust them. Hp is fine too.
13. What country do you live in?
United States, in California
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I also have a $100 off code for specific Best Buy student laptops. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/sd-aug-save-on-select-laptops-co17319?cp=1&searchType=promo&st=sd-aug-save-on-select-laptops-co17319&qp=storepickupstores_facet%3DStore~133

I'm considering using that $100 off coupon on the eligible student discount laptops.

Also I'm wondering if Surface pros are worth considering?

I'm a little weary because there are no reviews yet. Also what do the mean by hybrid for the 1tb hdd and 256gb ssd. Is it one combined drive? Overall it's a pretty attractive price.

There are 2 drives: One is a slower HDD the other is a faster SSD. You can store things like windows and programs you use often on the SSD so they have faster load times and on the HDD things you don't use often.
Also there is a version with I5 instead of I7 ,no HDD just 256GB SSD and 12 hour batter life instead of 8 for 580 dollars.
Really good reviews by many people and was one of the best selling laptop on amazon.
