Roku Premiere + to older (2002) Sony TV

Solution
It might work. Roku's are picky over their copyright protection handshake. When I had one, I would get the purple screen a lot meaning it can't establish the HDCP connection even though I had everything good. Had to swap out a couple of cables to get a good connection.

Thanks, I will try my local electronics store and see what they think. Appreciate the answer!

Great thought, though trying to avoid the $60 converter if possible.
I did find out my TV is actually 2003 and has DVI digital. Someone at You DO It Electronics (Needham, MA) said there should be options with DVI digital, so if the HDMI tpo DVI cable I bought at Amazon (link below) doesn't work

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2HOJK2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

then I will try You Do It.
I am currently running a component video out/in from cable box to TV, and the picture is pretty darn good. (Not perfect)

Thank you to all for responding, it is much appreciated!
