I recently replaced the battery in my laptop. I brought it up to full charge and thought everything was fine until I tried to start the computer on battery power. It works fine on AC but when the battery meter drops to 65% or below, the laptop will not startup on battery power. When I plug it into AC it will startup with no problem and I can then disconnect the AC power and it operates just fine on battery but still will not startup on battery power alone. I contacted ASUS tech support and tried several of their suggestions: 1. Hard reset; 2. Opened "Control Panel" went to "Batteries" and checked to see if the drivers were current and they were all up to date; and 3. Reset the BIOS. None of these has helped the issue. I run Windows 8.1. When I put the old battery back in, the laptop restarts and runs just fine on battery power. Any suggestions from anyone out there?

Solution
If you by any chance got an aftermarket battery, the battery itself may be your problem. It is hit or miss with those batteries and in some cases you wind up with one that will not put out enough power to start up a device or not enough once it is down a certain amount. If this is the case, you might want to consider returning the battery and getting a OEM one.
