Sounds are far

Hello,

The problem:
I played a movie on my laptop (Toshiba A500-1DN) a few days ago.
In the middle of it there was a very loud scene, in which the speakers made a lot of crackling noises (but it happened several times before in the past and caused no problems), and the problem began from that very moment until now.
The sound that comes out from the speakers sounds very far and weak. It sounds well with headphones, though.

What I tried so far:
-Update the audio drivers to the latest version.
-Change some settings in the Control Panel and the Realtek panel to no avail, so I left everything the way it was before.
-Restarting.

Nothing helps and the problem persists. It might be a hardware problem but I want to negate every other option.

Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thank you very much.

Solution
Every time you abused the internal speakers the voice coil of the speaker was over heated or deformed. When it cooled down it was OK but still weakened. Eventually the heat- cool cycle broke a wire in the voice coil. Speaker is now dead. It may be possible to replace the speakers but finding the exact ones or ones that fit might be tough.
Use external speakers connected to the headphone jack.
