Hisense TV and Sony DVD player

We have a Hisense TV and Sony DVD player. When playing a movie a static sound comes and goes. What is the problem and how can we fix it? Please and thank you!

Ok, have you tried another HDMI cable? And if the DVD player has another connection, try that and see if the problem still persists. This will be a process of elimination. It could still be a hardware fault, but we will try some simple steps before deciding this.
