Hi,

I have Toshiba Satellite P55W-B5318. The notebook would suddenly just black out (like lost power) without any warning even with AC adaptor on. It happen randomly, sometimes within 1 min after start, and sometimes it doesn't happen after 3 hours.
Everything back to normal when I press power button to start.

I think there are some problem with system fan, because it's very loud a few weeks ago, and now the fan is silent.
I try to download TOSHIBA PC Diagnostic Tool and TOSHIBA Cooling Performance Diagnostic Tool, but I can't find it under "Driver and Software" for my model under http://support.toshiba.com
Any suggestions?

Thanks, Peter

If the fan was loud and now not doing anything at all, and the device is turning off often, I would say you need to replace that fan and it may be overheating. Try installing some temp monitoring software like say "Speedfan" or other similar one and see what the temps run.

I don't think it's the problem with the fan. I installed a laptop cooler, but it didn't help.
After further test, I found out that it happens (black-out) within 1 min. of power on. If nothing happen after 1 min., it will work normal.
Also, it could happen 1~4 times in a row.

In my case plugging in a USB2.0 into a USB3.0 port would cause your symptom randomly in my P55W-C. Try to unplug all devices and see how long the notebook holds without blacking out. This worked for me.
