My current desktop which is outdated will not comply when connected to my Samsung TV Via HDMI. The problem does not have to do with the resolution or the HDMI cord. The Desktop wont recognize the TV as a source and will continue to not notice it, i don't care if there is a wireless way but all i am trying to do is stream my desktops screen on the TV. All i want to know is there a problem or another way i have not found?

Solution
When you connect a source to a TV with HDMI they "handshake" with each other to determine how they can work together. The TV doesn't have it's hand out all the time and the PC takes time to detect the TV at the other end of the cable so they miss each other.
The order you boot the PC and select the input affects this.
Sometimes you have to switch to another active input and back again to get them to lock. Sometimes more than once. Sometimes you have to wait 10 seconds for them to lock.
Supposedly the upcoming HDMI revision next year will make this less of a problem.
