Hello, System Advanced Care 10.4 did a scan yesterday and picked up a Trojan called FakeAV. It could not delete it and I am skeptical of randomly searching websites to install a tool to remove it so can anyone help me or direct on how to remove this FakeAV Trojan? Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screen shot of it. Thank you in advance.

I am using Windows 10/ I use AVG free editon antivirus and IObit Advanced system Care.

I tried a system scan using Avg and scanned it again with IObit, but nothing came up.

Never heard of a fake AV trojan actually running that never made it's presence known frequently, demanding purchase of something else to take care of the problem, of course...; perhaps what ASC found was a link or cookie from a site that hosts a fake AV...

IF Malwarebytes AM or Hitman Pro can't find it. it's probably a false alarm....note the location of the miscreant alleged offender and true filename next time, and see if it actually exists...

Thank you,

I used Malwarebytes and did a scan in safe mode. Quarantined 29 items, but none of them were about the fakeAV trojan.

My computer runs fine so do you think I should just keep an eye out for the Trojan or should I try something else? I have the log if you want it. Thanks for helping!
