What are the Pros and Cons of having two GTX 1080s in SLI mode

I am looking for purchasing a high end and powerful gaming laptop for playing high intense graphics games.

The company where I want to buy a laptop from offers me some customization including graphics cards.

It offers me 2X 8GB GTX 1080s in SLI mode. But the problem with SLI which I know very well is that it is not giving me combined 16GB VRAM but only gives me 8GB of VRAM in SLI mode and each of the 2 graphics card uses its own frame buffer.

So, my question is, what are the benefits and disadvantages of having 2X GTX 1080s in SLI mode as it only gives me the VRAM equivalent to one 8GB GTX 1080 graphics card.

Please help me.....

On some games SLI greatly improves performance. On the majority of games there is little to no improvement. On some games performance decreases. Except for the few games which have a performance boost it is a waste of money.

If the laptop is less than 4K it is a complete waste. As a laptop CPU is likely a bottleneck at lower resolutions.

Pros: i don't think there would be much pros because it's a laptop. even in pc it's iffy to do it.

Cons: faster battery drain, cpu bottleneck, more heat generating cause of two GPUs, cost more but not much FPS improvement on most of games.

Yes I am talking about clevo p870km1. But tell me what do you think does two 8GB GTX 1080s in SLI mode make a difference? Should I go with 2 graphics cards or with only 1 GTX 1080?
