my rig asus rog-gl552vx intel i7-6700hq,nvidia geforce gtx 950m(4GB memory ddr5)
from the last week i am facing this issue- during gaming after some time fps suddenly drops to nearly half like in gta5 fps drops from 60 to 20 and in assassian creed syndicate fps drops from 30 to 10 and this thing really annoys me. whats the solution now?

Solution

disabling turbo boost will help with the temperatures thus reducing possibility of thermal throttling which will affect your fps.i have the GL552vw with a stronger gtx 960m and cleaning and repasting didnt help much temps due to the poor cooling design and capabilities.disabling turbo boost is the way to go for this model.

8gb ddr4 ram,yeah i monitored the temperatures of gpu and cpu for cpu it was about core1#90.0 c,core2#83.3 c,core3#78.0 c,core4#80.0 c,cpu package 88.0 c
max and gpu temp was78.0 c. spec intel i7-6700hq,8gb ram ddr4,nvidia geforce gtx 950m 4gb memory ddr5,1tb 7200rpm hard drive,win 10 os.

looks like your cpu is overheating as it max out at 90c.disable turbo boost for your cpu and try running the game again and see how it turns out for your temps and fps.here is a link if u dont know how to do so. https://www.tautvidas.com/blog/2011/04/disabling-intel-turbo-boost/

my friend told me a solution for this problem:that delete the temporary files. after deleting the files, now games are running smoothly. what if i disable turbo boost?games will run smoother after disabling it or not ? will i get the same fps as it was earlier? even though temperature drops.

what if i continue to play heavy games on my laptop on turbo boost ? will it affect further to my hardware? can i use coolpad instead. or this laptop is not meant for gaming ?

the laptop is a indeed a gaming laptop with the proper spec but the cooling is not proper.single fan and a shared heatsink for the cpu and gpu.a cooling pad wont help.maybe it shave max of 1-3c.u can go ahead and keep the boost on which will push your cpu temp to 90c and your gpu higher.the draw back is frame drops when the temp reach 90c or worst shorting your hardware lifespan.also take note the cpu is strong enough even without boost.
