I have a Pioneer VSX 1019AH receiver, along with a plasma TV and sound bar. I currently have the receiver set to HDMI through, with the HDMI output from the receiver split so the TV receives the video signal through HDMI and the sound bar gets the audio through Toslink optical. I would also like to play sound through some surround speakers, but the HDMI Through setting seems to disable the speaker connections. Is there a way to play the audio this way using my current components?

Solution
The soundbar isn't supposed to be used with a receiver but there is away to get it working. You will need a speaker to line level convert that connects to the front speaker terminals. This will provide you with a L/R front output for the aux input on the soundbar.
Set the receiver to 4.0 or 4.1 if you have a subwoofer.
