Ok so I have an ASUS K556u with an i7 6500u and Nvidia 930mx and 8 GB of ram. Just three days ago I played a little in the morning, then shut it down after around an hour of use.

After returning home from school, perhaps around 7 hours after using it first, I attempted to switch it on, to my dismay, the laptop didn't budge. No sound of the fan working nor did the LED indicators light up. At first I thought maybe the battery is completely depleted (which again I felt odd since I always use my laptop while plugged in as I'm mostly indoors and keep it at a fixed place). So I proceed to turn the charger on and neither did the led of the laptop charging come on. Now this got me panicking and I first started to repeatedly push the power button. After a few attempts, it turned on and then after 2 seconds, turned off. On seeing that, I continued to mash the power button but to no use. Then I decide to leave it connected to the charger for a while and while it was in such state, for a moment the charging light blinked and went off(blinked white indicating full charged).

Now today is the third day ever since my laptop has been in this state. I have tried various suggestion for similar cases like holding power button and all but it did not work. P.S. my laptop's battery is not external and can't be removed without disassembly. I need help with this and am literally praying that the laptop comes back alive since my dad would kill me if it doesn't work and it's been less than a year since I bought it from a 3rd party retail shop.

Have you done any good deep scans for viruses and malware? Either of those could be an issue. I would run programs for both of those. Also, try starting up in "Safe Mode" and see if if the problem happens then. If it does, it may well be the battery or even the motherboard, however, if it works fine in "Safe Mode" then you know it is a software, virus or malware issue.

How to enter "Safe Mode" when booting the computer.

In Windows 8 and 10...

As your computer restarts, press F8 (possibly a few times) to enter "Safe Mode"

a. Press the "F4" key to Enable "Safe Mode".
(The computer will then start in "Safe Mode" with a minimal set of drivers and services.)

b. Press the "F5" key to Enable "Safe Mode" with Networking.
( Once "Safe Mode"...
Try the following and see if it will turn on...

1. Unplug your charger cord.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds.
4. Now plug back in the power/charger cord.
5. Now put the battery back in.

If this doesn't help, then test the power cord to see if it is good. Either try your cord in another device, or try another devices cord in your laptop. You may also want to try charging it when the device is off, rather than on. If it works then, the cord is probably the issue.

Should that not be the problem, then check the battery to see if it needs replacing.

Really not helping since I already did those and did mention, except for battery testing which I can't since the battery is internal and requires complete disassembly and also idk how to test it

Yes, I know it is really hard on some devices to get to the battery. The other steps require the battery removal to actually work though. So using them without that part really doesn't work.

If you have tested the charger on another device, and it worked fine, then I can only say the other option is to replace the battery. If you don't feel comfortable checking it yourself, then you would have to take it to a tech to do the work.

NOTE: If the device was purchased new (not used) then it should still be under warranty. You would just need to contact the manufacturer.

Ok well here's the current situation: for the past month it started to work fine but now again the same problem has started to persist. However I've figured that pressing above the F10 button of the keyboard with some pressure seems to start the laptop but it mostly immediately shuts off right after like 2-3 seconds and sometimes till the full boot till I can see the desktop and all. Sometimes while I'm in the middle of doing some work it automatically shuts down and sort of gets in this loop of 2 second turn ons. Now the place I press is not above the ram sticks so it's not that but it may be the battery, but I hope not the motherboard. Any idea?

How to enter "Safe Mode" when booting the computer.

In Windows 8 and 10...

(The computer will then start in "Safe Mode" with a minimal set of drivers and services.)

b. Press the "F5" key to Enable "Safe Mode" with Networking.
( Once "Safe Mode" with Networking starts, Windows is in Safe Mode, with additional network and services for accessing the Internet and other computers on your network.)

c. Press the "F6" key to Enable "Safe Mode" with Command Prompt.
(In "Safe Mode" with "Command Prompt" starts Windows in Safe Mode, with a Command Prompt window instead of the Windows interface. This option is mostly only used by IT professionals.)

Now sign in to the computer with your account name and password. (If you have one set.) When you are finished troubleshooting, you can exit "Safe Mode" restarting your computer.

In Windows 7/Vista/XP...

1. Immediately after turning on the computer, or restarting it (usually after you hear your computer beep), tap the F8 key, repeatedly, in 1 second intervals.

2. The computer will then display hardware information and run a memory test.

3. Next the "Advanced Boot Options" menu will appear.

4. In the "Advanced Boot Options" menu use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking" and press ENTER.
