Upon plugging in my mouse and setting it to the desired speed and sensitivity, it works fine. The problem i have is when i unplug my mouse the track pad becomes slower than the default settings. When i restart my laptop, the settings are returned to normal only on the sign in screen. When i open to my desktop the problem persists. I have tried going into the settings to change the speed of the track pad manually, but the settings aren't changed - they're still set to default. It seems like the mouse simply crosses paths with the track pad settings somehow. Is this a bug or does it have a fix?

Solution
Touchpad not working? Try the following and see if it fixes it...

1. Go into "Control Panel".
2. Click "Hardware and Sound".
3. Now click "Mouse and Touchpad".
4. Now go to "Additional mouse options".
5. The Mouse Properties window will open. In here click on your device.
6. Make sure the settings are set to what you want them to be for it and be sure that you save them.
7. Check the settings again after connecting and disconnecting the external mouse to see if they change or not.

Also, you might want to check for updates to your drivers, including the Synaptics drivers.
