I need to buy a laptop for my study course (programming) and I can't choose between these two and I'm getting really frustrated. Besides a good cpu I wanted a decent gpu to play some games when im not at home, at lan parties for instance.

HP omen is a bit thinner and 150$ cheaper, but has a GTX 1050 vs the GTX 1060 from MSI.
MSI has a 6700HQ vs the new 7700HQ from the omen, CPU is important with programming..
The HP omens looks a lot better though in my opinion but I like MSI'S keyboard more.

I might sell my PC in the future if I don't need it anymore. That would only be the case if I would end up buying the MSI one or better, since the HP isn't good enough to beat my PC.

I just can't choose. The MSI one with the option to sell my pc just in case, or the HP laptop, which in that case I will keep my PC.

Please give your opinion about these two laptops, anything about build quality to performance etc.

Thanks for reading!

Solution
Go with the MSI one
1. The dedicted GPU is better
2. HP Laptops have bad screens.
3. The change in from the mobile i7-7700HQ isnt so high compared to the i7-6700HQ, maybe only the temps for some degrees
4. You can even have more Ram in the MSI one

Hello , I would recommend to stay away from HP Omen
I just purchased one a few days ago and its a nightmare , it has the worst screen bleeding that a laptop can have
I' m just asking this forum right not if I should return it or keep it because after 30 minutes of gaming Dawn of war 3 I got these temps : http://imgur.com/a/zM9HE
So go MSi you wont regret it... This hp omen has the worst keyboard , cheap fragile plastic , screen bleeding , high temps , bad cooling . I think ill probably return it tomorrow to the store and choose a Acer or Lenovo , in my country its hard to find a MSI , Asus , or something else that really proves worthy , and if you find It its very expensive ...

Hey, thanks for the reply. You're stating that the temps are terrible, but what I see from that screenshot aren't bad temps..62 degrees celsius is totally fine right?

Anyway, if the quality is shit I might be better of with the MSI indeed, thanks for the information! Good luck refunding it!

Look at the max temp column because the screenshot was made a few moments after I stopped the gameplay so the temps got down a little
