So the Bluray player is a Samsung external device as well I am assuming?
Scratched or unclean disk or looks in good condition? If dirty - clean it.
Is the Bluray player connected to the television properly and displaying menu options? If not check the (assuming HDMI) connection.
Is the disk the right region for the player? Samsung players are region locked and won't play disks for other regions.
If all of the above is OK then you might like to try updating the firmware version of the player (for which you will need an internet connection):
1) Remove disk if there is one in there
2) Press the MENU button on the remote control and select Settings
3) Select Support -> Software Upgrade -> By Internet
4) Prompt should appear on TV about player connection to server
5) If firmware available then automatic download will start -> Once complete another dialog box should appear
6) Select Upgrade Now -> install will proceed and device will restart after boot completion -> new firmware should now be installed
