Hi I have a Dell Latitude E6510 laptop. I removed the hard drive and put it into my custom desktop. As soon as I did that I tried to boot it (on the desktop) and it wouldnt boot. So I moved it back to the original laptop. When I try to boot from there, using both Legacy and UEFI, it does not boot. It says it is not bootable. I suspect it is a missing boot flag but I do not know how to change that. I have also booted my laptop with Kali Linux, and in the file explorer all the files on the drive are accessible and working just like a normal drive. I think inserting the drive into my desktop could have changed some boot settings somewhere. Please help!

Solution
which version of windows is it? if its win 10, On another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

try start up repair -
change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up repair - this will scan PC and maybe fix this - will ask for logon info

one thing you could try is remove drive from laptop and start laptop. obviously it won't boot but if you put drive in after this, it might reset boot order and find drive again
