My laptop starts getting slow.

I reformatted my laptop, then installed an Operating System and drivers from the CD that the manufacturer gave to me 4 years ago. I downloaded Steam and Dota 2; played for days, it's still working fine. But after I downloaded League of Legends, then restarting, may laptop starts getting slow. I really have no idea why it starts getting slow. I mean, the specs are fine. What do you think is the problem?

By the way, the windows and drivers are still updating up to now. Do I really need to update them? What do you think will happen to my laptop if they got updated? Will it work fine already? Or should I go to a professional to check if there's a problem with my HDD?

Solution
I would wait for all the updates to install first as that will slow the hdd down. A way of making the downloads faster is to use an ethernet cable as that should maximise download speed. After that see if that helps.

Second you don't need the latest drivers for the components if they are working fine for the things you are doing. As you have windows 7, keep an eye out for a free upgrade to windows 10.

Technically you don't actually need to use windows update as it is an old os. You can update your laptop manually and use a 3rd party anti virus instead of windows defender to keep you safe.

Your hardware is 4 years old? Any number of things could be reaching the end of it's life, internal power regulator, battery, HDD, cooling fan. My suggestion is, make sure all the OS updates are installed (it could be your OS). Check the temperatures to make sure they are below 80C, if they aren't open the laptop and clean out the dust. If these two things do not help, it may be the battery or the hard drive, either replace these or take it to a pro to get tested (they should be able to test other things like the power regulator).

Well, the OS updates are still updating and installing right now. It takes so much time. The temperatures are fine.

I can't really open it. I mean, I'm afraid I might move something that that will worsen my laptop.

I think, in that case you should take it to a pro.

As harry said... it could be nearly every part...
Checking Temperature and installing all the Updates would be the first thing...

Often after a fresh install windows installs many things in the background... (Depending on your Version ofc) This takes some hours...
If your PC isnt the fastest this could be the thing why it is so slow...

But an SSD would already make a big difference in loading speeds!
