windows problem solution

Hi...
when I start my laptop the Windows media center offenly displayed and thats didn't allow to open another programs. when click the program suddenly Windows media center displayed then I restarted the laptop that normally started but laptop is stuck, after that i pressed the off button for shutdown. then I switch on/started the laptop normally but no any icons displayed in the Windows.

please anyone let me know that how to solve this problem???

Boot up in safe mode using f8 as the laptop is booting this bring into safe mode, open command prompt and type "chkdsk" this will get windows to do a file check. If any files are found to corrupted it will offer at the end to do a disk check on next boot to repair the files, it will ask to press either the Y key N key .......meaning yes or no to do a disk check on next boot. Press Y and reboot. Let Windows do its check and it will reboot and hopefully windows work as normal.
