Hey everyone. I was playing games on my PC today with some friends and we were communicating via skype. All of a sudden they all started panicking saying that my microphone had a humming noise. I use a Hyper X Cloud 2 headset. I tried using the skype test call service and I definitely noticed the humming as well as my voice being super quiet (I can BARELY hear it). When my mic is muted, my friends cannot hear anything. I unplugged the 3.5mm jack on the headset from the USB dongle that came with it and tried using my Bose earbuds and there was no problem at all with humming or buzzing. I switched over to my laptop to test and see if it had the same noise with the skype test call service. I noticed no humming noise this time, but my mic still seemed a bit quiet. I have read online that this may be a grounding issue. I use a Monster Power HDP 650G power center which is plugged into the wall. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have been looking into these types of issues since my speakers are doing something similar.

For starters, are you able to bypass the Monster power center? On an audio / video tech website, someone was talking about Monster cables being sub-par (I used to have some for my guitar rig.). Anyway, it's hard to pinpoint this as a grounding issue right away because the microphone was working okay for some time before this, correct?

An unfortunate aspect of these types of problems is that they can be very hard to diagnose. At least you started by trying the headset in another computer. You might want to verify that the mic volume can be turned up on the laptop.

...and, of course, you should always check to make sure your sound card drivers are updated, but you probably already know this.

In my case, it seems to be something to do with the computer and speakers being a bad combination.

Ok so a new update. It is definitely just my computer. I just tried to plug it into my brothers computer and it worked perfectly fine. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can look to fix this electrical issue?

EDIT: I also tried to unplug the USB on the front side of the case because it is slightly pushed in on the side. Also tried plugging the PSU directly into the wall and tried switching my power bar.
