Buying a XPS13 without warranty?

I found a good deal on a XPS13 9343 (2015) couple days ago.
The specs are :
Intel i7-5500u 2.40GHz
8gb RAM DDR3 1600MHz
256 gb SSD Samsung PM851 M.2
Me and my friend went and inspected the device personally, the device was rarely used and are in great condition.

So he offered me the device with 1070 NZD(roughly 770USD), he claim that he bought it at Hong Kong in 2015 and can provide receipt, he thinks there's still 1.5 yrs warranties on it (he says it has 3 yrs warrant). The price seemed pretty sweet, so i made the deal.
Today, just when we were about to trade, I found out that the warrant was actually expired, it appeared that he remembered it wrong(don't think its a scam, hes a student),so the deals off.

Now he is offering 970NZD(698USD), so Im wondering what do you guys think of this? Do you guys think the price is still good to take? If not, what should be a good price? Is it even worth it?

What are the prices for new laptops in that range in your area? Go by that. I would say not having a warranty on a system is worth 25% under what a similar speed system would cost you new. So if a new system like that one is $1,000 then this one at 700 may be worth it. For your model ebay prices look to be in the $800 range with a few around $600. I don't think I would buy that system for $700 but that is just me. For a used system I would not get one for that much, I would pick a lower end system for $300 like a Lattitude or a Lenovo T model.
