hello, is it possible to build a laptop from parts ?

for example, i own a very old laptop, its a thinkpad , 1 core only, and very slow.

but i was thinking about buying a new motherboard, and the parts with it ( a cpu, some rams ).

is it possible to work on the thinkpad case, and with proper tools, fit a new motharboard inside ?

using the same power supply ?

i know how to work somewhat on the case, like how to make the case fits the input/outputs of the motherboard. maybe with tools like a drill, a cutter, etc, you can make it all solid and fixed ?

this is my laptop, and old thinkpad r52:

its very slow but i like the design and the big screen too. i guess a build project would be hard to do, so maybe buying a newer laptop would be better.

Solution
Problem would be figure out if the parts are compatible, and fit into the case, and/or if the used parts you bought work at all.

What you are doing is:
1. Nearly impossible
2. A laptop case is only designed to fit 1 thing and 1 thing only
3. Chances of this working are next to none
4. Using the same psu is a no go as different parts require different voltages and such
5. This is going to be WAY more expensive than just buying a new or used laptop

TL;DR
Don't do it was of time and money.

for sure it will cost less to buy a laptop.....

for 200$ i can have a quad core laptop,

if i buy a 80$ motherboard, then expensive cpu and laptop rams,... and unsure if the project will works, its a fail
