I have lenovo ideapad 110.And I have windows 10 and kali linux dual boot.In both my systems there is a wifi disconnecting problem. In windows after 30min to 1 hour the wifi is disconnecting automaticly and in kali linux after 5 to 15 mins the wifi is disconnecting. In my both system network drivers are updated. And my laptop is using rtl8821ae wifi card. Can anyone plz tell me what may be the prob?

Well your WiFi card could be going, or your ISP could be dropping and it disconnects the device. Which, for some devices, they won't automatically reconnect.

Try this....

First, make sure your laptop is 'not' connected to the modem/router via an Ethernet cable and follow the steps:

1. Go to "Control Panel".

2. Next go to "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing".

3. Now click on "Manage Wireless Networks".

4. On this screen, remove all wireless connections by "right clicking" on it and select "Remove network" from the drop down menu.

5. After doing this, close the open windows and reboot the computer.

6. Once the computer is fully reloaded, scan for the "Wi-Fi networks".

7. Click on the available network that you want to access and select "connect".

8. It takes a moment, but then you will be asked to give a password for your Wi-Fi connection. Type in the password and click the "connect" button.

It should now be connected.

NOTE: If this doesn't work, you may want to reset your modem/router, and then once it is fully loaded again, repeat the above steps.

If this doesn't work, test seeing if your laptop will connect via Ethernet. If so, then your WiFi card may be going. You can either look to replace it/have it replaced, or get an external (plugs in via USB) WiFi card.

Like i said before in windows the problem is not so much big.But in ubuntu and kali linux the connection is dropping in every 5 minutes even after updating and reinstalling all drivers. In windows it is almost ok.So if it may be the prob of my lan card or the linux systems are not supporting the lan card drivers.

Hi Arijit, did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the exact same issue and it's truly agonizing!

Hi! The only solution that I found was to use Wicd, an alternative to "network manager" installed by default in debian. It works, the wifi connection is stable. However, in this particular machine, in my opinion Win10 works better than debian. The computer runs slow. There are to many problems of compatibility between hardware and drivers.

I have the same machine and same issue. I'm running KDE on openSUSE, but also had Ubuntu on this machine and it did the same thing. I was hoping the switch would fix it. Thanks for the Wicd tip I will try it!
