If your laptop's WiFi adapter has gone south, the easiest alternative is a plug-in USB WiFi adapter.
If your wireless router router is an ac model (ie it's dual-band - 2.4GHz & 5GHz) then be sure to get an ac dual-band adapter for full compatibility between the two. 5GHz can be real life-saver when the more commonly used 2.4GHz band is heavily crowded in your neighbourhood.
