Hi,

I'm trying to hook up my phone to my dad's (rather old) stereo system. I've ordered an AUX to Cinch (red / white) adapter for this and got it to work like that. What I did was just disconnect our DVD player and plug in the new cable instead. Now I'm trying to get it to work with both of them connected and can't seem to get it right. Here's a photo of the backside of the machine:

CD / DVD is the DVD player, MD / TAPE is an old tape player.

I've tried using the PHONO inputs and the sound didn't end up coming out right. I've also tried PLAY IN VIDEO 2 and didn't get any sound at all. I have pretty much no idea what I'm doing so I thought I'd ask here before just trying every possibility.

Thanks in advance

Solution
Phono is for a vinyl turntable only. Phone won't work correctly as you found out.
It should work when connected to the Play in video 2 input. Select that input on the receiver. Start with the phone volume all the way down. Set the stereo to the normal volume setting that is used for the other sources and then bring the phone volume up slowly until you get enough volume to match the other sources.
