My AV Receiver works fine but is having a problem staying off when you hit the power button. No matter using the remote control or manually at the machine itself. Turn it on and use it go to turn it off and it sits for a sec or two then clicks and turns itself back on. I have made sure that no buttons on the remote are stuck or any other piece of the group is in the on position. Anyone out there run into this and have a solution, hate to replace it as it works and sounds fine, just a pain in the back side at the moment..

Solution
1. Try turning off CEC. This function is supposed to simplify operation by sending commands over HDMI between devices.
2. Check the receiver menu to see if there is any function that would turn the receiver on when it senses an active input. The manual may mention this if it has this function.
3. Assuming that this a recent problem you can try checking with Yamaha about any firmware updates or if this is a repairable problem.

Thank you americanaudiophile for taking the time to help me. I did as you suggested and this has now made my Yamaha AVR stay off once things are shut down...I use a unified remote from Harmony and so it sends commands to the AVR to tell it how it should be set anyway so I do not need a device in the system to tell the AVR to turn on...This worked for me.
