I have a laptop and a DVD player which gives 5.1 output to my surround sound system. I want to connect my laptop with my DVD player. But it has only USB and SD input.
How can I connect??

Solution
Simply said - you can't (unless you hack your DVD player with additional functionality).

The USB (and SD) interfaces on your DVD player are designed for flash disk support - that is, to put your MP3s there. To be able to connect it thru USB, your DVD player should act as USB sound card, and it does not.

but in all seriousness, a USB should connect the two if the DVD player has a USB input. I don't know what outputs your laptop has but it should have USB. if not get a converter.
