* and external audio card Soundblaster Audigy RX, optical SPDIF output.

SONY to TV: HDMI cable

Problem.

NO SOUND This is the problem.

What I did
I checked that PC optical audio port is activated and working.
I Checked that Sony works fine when reading DVD on its integrated Blue Ray player (Super sound)
I tried to configurate Sony receiver. No way

Any advice?
Thank you in advance.

Solution
You don't need the optical cable.
Set the audio device on your PC as the HDMI output.
In the receiver set up menu make sure that you get audio and video from HDMI in the input set up menu. This may be the default but check it if needed. This menu would be where you assign the optical connection for audio and the HDMI for video if you wanted to.
Your Samsung HDTV will likely have an Optical output. Your PC, Cable Box, Blu Ray, Game Console, &c should all be connected to your TV via HDMI. Then you connect your TV via Optical output to the Sony receiver via optical input. That way when you change inputs on your TV the audio source is changed with it.

Make sure the default audio source for your PC is set correctly
- Open Control Panel
- Change "View By" to large icons
- Open Sound
- In the Playback tab highlight the audio source you want and click Set Default
- Although this part is a preference of mine. I right click on every other device and choose disable. That way it won't inadvertently take control.
- Click Apply and close the window.
