Audio Assistance with soundbar with other devices ATT cable box, X-box 360 and Roku

I’m trying to connect my ATT U-verse cable box to other devices (TV, X-box 360, and Roku) while using my Vizio soundbar. I was able to connect the cable box and soundbar (optically) and I can watch and listen to TV (no problem). I also connected my wireless turtle beach headphones to my x-box and I can hear TV, X-box, and Roku thru my headphones (again, no problems). However, I cannot hear the x-box or Roku through the soundbar. When I change my input on the TV to either X-box or Roku – the only sound from the soundbar is from whatever channel is on the TV. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

So, first things first. You only have the Cable box connected (via optical) to the sound bar right? Nothing else?

Ok, so the reason why you can only hear your cable box through your sound bar, is because the only unit connected, is the cable box. for all your audio to come from the soundbar, you would need to connect all peripherals to your TV via HDMI, then optical link from the TV to the soundbar.
