Hi,

I am sorry if this has already been covered but I still don't understand what I need to do in order to connect my relatively modern but no smart Samsung TV to my Pioneer HTZ-121 DVD surround system.

When I play a DVD with this device (connecting to the TV with an HDMI cable) the surround system works fine but I cannot figure out how to use the surround system with anything else I play on the TV.

I tried following the manual which says this but it still doesn't work:

AUX IN Connection
Connect an Output of auxiliary device to the AUX Input (L/R) Connector.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain how to make it work please. I am not an expert in this field so leyman's terms and pictures would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Eva

Without the model number of the TV we can't tell what outputs it has.
If it has a headphone or analog audio output then use that.
If it has an coax digital or optical audio output (most likely) then you will need an optical to analog audio converter.
Check the TV manual on how to use the optical output.

Sorry, Samsung TV model code is PS51E450A1RXXT

The TV has 5 component outputs, green (Y video), blue (Pb), red (Pr), white (L) and red (R). It does also have a digital audio out (optical). However, the pioneer box only has the component outputs. We have tried connecting the L and R wires as well as the Y video one, but that hasn't worked. And we don´t have the cables for the Pb and Pr ones. Do we need to get those and plug them in as well or instead?

Thanks
