Too much base

How do I adjust base? To reduce base do I set level at a neg number.? My neibour says she can hear the thump of it
Forgot..it is a LG sound bar..purchased with TV a month ago ...the sound remote does have an adjustment. I put it at a -5 and still thumps too much base.
The sound also seems to go up and down, I am not really happy with this...

reduce bass ........... on what?

i will assume a home theater given that is the section you posted in. some subwoofers have a knob or two knobs on the back. one is frequency response (how high in frequency the sub will still fire at) and the other is subwoofer volume (how powerful/loud it will fire). if you do not have those knobs, you should still be able to do it with the equalizer. on an equalizer setting to negative numbers will reduce bass, yes.
