Okay, when I try to close out of my tabs this box pops up saying I have two downloads in progress. I never downloaded anything

I use google chrome on a Dell Chromebook. I have not downloaded anything recently but I have in the past. I still have a lot of storage left. It won't stop downloading when I hit cancel downloads, checked through almost anything and I can't see anything anywhere that's downloading. I checked my Downloads, my Extensions, my Apps, and my Drive. Nothing. Please help me find the answer because I don't know if it was a virus that got downloaded or something, and quite frankly I'm actually starting to get a little scared.

Solution
Sounds exactly like malware. There's several varieties, but a common one is to show pop-ups like that and the unsuspecting usually hit 'close' or 'cancel' or even the X in the corner, not suspecting that hitting that box anywhere literally starts a download or sends website info to the appropriate companies hosting the malware. Malwarebytes and Spybot-Search and Destroy are probably the 2 best, and one will sometimes pick up on something the other misses.
