Recommend a new home theatre system that is 5.1 surround sound (Wii U and PS4 Slim)
Hi,

I recently found my old surround sound system (Samsung HT-C450 5.1 ch - 500W) and tried to hook it up to my Wii U and PS4 Slim. I then realised that neither systems had a optical audio output. Also my TV (LG 26CS460) has no audio outputs at all, so I can't even go from my consoles to the TV and then to the surround sound.

It looks like my cheapest option is to just get a new home theatre system that accepts a HDMI input. This also needs to be LPCM compatible since the Wii U doesn't encode in Dolby or DTS.

My questions are:
1. Is replacing my home theatre system the cheapest option?
2. If the answer to question 2 is yes, then can anyone recommend a reasonably priced system that is 5.1 surround sound but is also compatible with LPCM?
3. Is it possible to keep my speakers from the Samsung system and just get a new receiver? (reason is to save money)

Many Thanks,
Oli

Thanks for the link. I've read that to get surround sound on the Wii U it needs to transfer via HDMI cable so I don't think that will work. (source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=500865). I'm hoping to get a ONKYO TX-SR508 second hand and then plug in the samsung speakers to that. The speakers have an impedance of 3 ohms while the receiver can go to 4ohms so it should be okay (from what I've read).
