I have an earphone plug having four colored wires (gold, red, green, blue) and a jack with four connectors:

I need to know which colour should be soldered to which connector.

Solution
Are you sure that's a headphone plug?
They usually have only three conductors because there is a common ground for the right and left channels.
Could be a plug for a jack bay that's used for switching.
If you have a VOM you can check for continuity from the plug at the other end to determine which color goes to which conductor. Pretty cheap and good to have around if you don't have one.

To any moderator that might read this.
Do you think that the answer above is the solution to this thread?
I mean the poster can't identify a 4 pin headphone connector and the site staff does select it as a solution to the problem?
Not mentioning that the cable is not connected to the plug so "If you have a VOM you can check for continuity from the plug at the other end to determine which color goes to which conductor" can't be used.....

Could be a headphone jack with mic... common ground. (usually red is right, white is left) Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the given color scheme.
