Upgrade my PSU from 450W to 500W

My stock cabinet came fitted with a 450W 24 pin PSU and it got fried due to power surge in my home. I found that buying a 500W new PSU is pretty much cheaper than 450W, If i replace the 450W with 500W is this gonna cause any trouble to my desktop or might be advantageous in having extra power to supply to system?
I have a GTX 750 1GB DDR5 and i never overclocked it when i had the 450W, If i buy the 500W will be safe and provide necessary energy to power the mobo as well as help my overclocking?

The 450W PSU that came with your cabinet died because most PSUs that come with cases are very low end. A new "500W" PSU might be what you need, though there are "500W" PSUs I won't even let in my house let alone my PC. If you get a real 500W PSU which should run $30-50 for an 80+ bronze or $60-80 for an 80+ gold unit. If you are looking at a "500W" unit and it's $20, move along. It's not worth the money.

I have bought a new ups so there won't be any power surge or fluctuations and my ups will alert me, I can't buy EVGA 500W or like the bronze or gold unit but as you say i have money to buy the 20$ PSU, My doubt is 450W or 500W won't matter if the later is replaced with the new one and having 50W extra is gonna do any harm to my desktop?

450W or 500W is what the PSU CAN supply, not does supply. A PSU sends only the power needed by the PC. 200W, 247W, 341W, etc.

What isn't going to matter is replacing one junk PSU with another. Those junk $20 PSUs are just that, junk. The labels are fake, the internals are lacking parts, parts that are used are below spec, and you will just have another dead PSU after a short time. How long did the one that came with your case last? The same thing is going to happen with the new one.
