Acer aspire chromebook

Tried to do a factory reset on my laptop & it got as far as 11% & said it failed. I turned off computer, turned it on & the acer logo flashed on & off continually & nothing else. I called acer tech support & they told me that it's never save to do a reset yourself & that will leave computer vulnerable for viruses. I said ok guy, how much is it gonna cost. He said $129. I said ok, no thank you & hung up. This thing didn't even cost that much. So my next step was to look online for answers. Finally finding this forum I was able to try a couple of tricks & this is what worked:
1 hold power button to turn off
2 power on
3 when acer shows up immediately press & hold Alt & f10 until the screen shuts completely black. (Not the black screen that was the blank screen when it was flashing) The black your looking for is a darker black.
4 as soon as black screen appears, let go of Alt & f10
5 please wait will appear
6 blue screen will come up
7 select troubleshoot
8 select reset keeping your files
9 make sure it is plugged in

That didn't work, still failed...so I cancelled,
selected troubleshoot
advance options
startup repair, didn't work
System restore, didn't work
Command prompt pulled up black screen. I'm no tech person so I have no idea what to put.
So..... I am lost! Please help!
