Solved! Device to record through audio jack, while still passing audio through

Hello all, I'm trying to find a device that would allow me to plug in a MP3 cable into one end, and out the other and have the device record the incoming MP3 and output it through the other line.

To give an explanation of what I'm trying to do, I have a raceciever device which allows the tower to talk to cars on the track. I would like to be able to record that audio and overlay it onto a video clip but I would need the audio to pass through the device, or use a splitter so I can still hear the audio.

Not sure if there is a device like that, or if I just could find the right name for it, but figured I would ask, thank you for any input!

I assume by "MP3 cable" you mean it has a 3.5mm audio jack?

What you describe then is very simple. You would use the "LINE IN" for a computer, then bring up software such as Nero Wave Editor.

So you attach the 3.5mm cable (Male-to-male) to the device output, and to the LINE IN on the PC. Then follow instructions (including adjusting volume and sensitivity of receiver.. ) and then record.

I also used Nero Sound Trax to do more, simple editing such as splicing. There are several programs, including VIDEO editors which can mix audio and video.

Update: as for the VIDEO part, I'm not quite sure what you're doing.

Also, for HEARING the audio, you can record on the computer while the speakers are running. I used a player with audio cassette (3.5mm output same as most MP3 players), then ran that to PC as discussed above.

Yea 3.5mm audio jack, and the problem is the device will be in a racecar without access to a computer, that's why I was wondering if there was a device that did that. Basically the device would record the audio file and then I could transfer it to a computer later and edit it into the video using Video Editing software like you said. A very niche application which is why I wasn't sure if there was anything like that
