Hi guys, pls help me

I used my laptop in the afternoon, however when I turned it on in night, the screen is black. The fan spins, indicator lights turn on, and dvd rw works well (moves in and out). I have tried:
1. Unplug charger, remove battery, and hold power button for 30 secs, plug back charger and turn on, however still black screen. Then i tried 1 mins, 2 mins, 3 mins to hold power button,
2. Remove RAM, change to other slot, but useless. Use another ram, and turn it on.
3. Press Fn + F2/F5/F8 and others F
4. Connect laptop to external display using hdmi cable, the external display is black as well
5. Open the cover until i can see motherboard, use magnet and swipe near power button (internet said about 3 cm from right hinge).
6. Remove and put back BIOS battery
7. Turn on laptop without hardisk.

However still black screen.
FYI, no winter season in my country.

I asked somebody to check my asus and he told me that i need to change my motherboard that costs me around USD 700-800 and I believe he tried to cheat me since motherboard price is USD 180 - 200 in my country.

Any other solution? Please help me

If you tried an external monitor and it showed nothing, then they may well be right (the person that you spoke to) however it will depend also on if you hooked up the external monitor correctly. Below is the right way to do it.

Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the...

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.

Hi webworkings,

I did your instruction with a good external monitor however still nothing on the external monitor. I guess you are right that the problem comes from GPU. I will bring my laptop to service center then.

Thank you very much for your help.
