Hi I've had an old Asus K53sd for awhile now but I had it tucked away for a year as I upgraped my PC. But ive come back to this for school work. So I fixed the issues I was aware of (Dead Battery and dodgy Charger). So I bought a new battery and charger. Both werent manufactured by Asus. I installed the battery and charged it up fine. Took it to school the next day and the battery seems to drain really fast even on Power Saving mode. (With battery saver enabled) I also noticed when I woke up the Charging LED was flashing Green and then orange alternating. Shut down the pc and rebooted it and it seemed to solve the problem, But do you think my battery is dodgy or my laptop is dead?

Solution
It could be software. Especially if you have something slightly malicious on the computer that is draining the power. So I would check for viruses, malware and bad programs first.

Then, should that not be the issue, it may well be the battery, but you may want to see about calibrating it to see if that resolves the problem.
