I had a CATV digital adapter on my wall mounted TV in my kitchen. The cool thing about it, it had controlled the volume out the Toslink of the adapter with my tv remote. I ran a 50ft Toslink to my closet and wired it to my kitchen's ceiling speakers using a Sonos Connect Amp and a Toslink to Analog adapter (monoprice).

I replaced the CATV digital adapter and went with the Tivo Mini for that TV. But now I don't have volume control out of the Tivo's Toslink.

Looking for the simple/cheap solution for this. IR volume control of the Toslink at the TV, before it goes 50ft to my closet. Ideally something I can velcro to the back of my TV.

Solution
If your TV or TIVO don't have variable audio out I don't think there is a simple/cheap way to get IR remote.
If your TV has a headphone jack that would have variable audio. You could convert that to optical or run a new cable.
I would just use the Sonos App for volume. You could use any tablet or old phone since the Sonos App is free.
