XnView (ver. 2.40) has a browser mode as well as a viewer mode. My problem is I cannot open an image file (ashx-fle) by double-clicking on it in File Explorer. XnView just opens - in its own browser - the folder containing the ashx-file I double-click on. Hope someone else knows how to make XnView act as a normal image viewer.

Solution
I suspect that XnView has not been established as the default app/viewer for the file image type.

Might also require a right click on the filename..... try that first.

For Windows 10, press the WIN key on your keyboard. Then click the "gear" settings icon.

Click Apps, then Default Apps.

See if you can configure Windows therein to use XnView for the ashx-fle extension.

Thanks-you, Ralston18, but I have already set XnView as default viewer for the image type. Actually I've been trying a lot of things, but but I've had no succes in making XnView just show the picture I double-click on without first showing me the folder contents that I already see in File Explorer!!

Do you or someone else know how to make XnView open an image file by double-clicking on that file in File Explorer without viewing the image file in one more browser first?
