Laptop will not connect to the internet. Through wifi or Ethernet cable. Thought It was the port or my Ethernet cable was bad so I plugged it into another Ethernet cable that's hooked up to another computer and again that doesn't work. However when I plug it back into the desktop it's working fine

Solution
Can the computer see the wifi networks just not connect to them?

The ethernet and the wifi chips are two very different cards/chips. Ethernet is soldered direct to board and wifi is a removable chip. M2 if newer model, PCI-Express if older.

Have a coworker with alienware and it uses the "Killer" brand networking cards which have been problematic to say the least.
If both your WiFi and Ethernet on the laptop won't work, then you probably have a dead WiFi/Ethernet card.

You can replace the internal one. If the laptop is under warranty then contact the manufacturer as they can then replace it. If it isn't under warranty, then you can replace it yourself or take it to someone who can do the work for you.

Or, you have another option. You can get yourself an external card, which would connect via one of the laptops USB ports, and use that to connect.
