TEAC HTIB500 speakers on Yamaha RX-V373

The TEAC has had various problems over the years but it seems to be the receiver itself, rather than the speakers.

While out and about today, I saw a second hand Yamaha for 175 bucks. No speakers. Was wondering if the speakers would work alright.

It's hard to compare the specs when I have no real clue. TEAC and Yamaha

I'll only be using the subwoofer and front speakers, if that makes a difference. Just wanted to make sure it'd work without starting a dang fire. Apologies for my ignorance in this matter.

Well, the main problem is the yamaha receiver has no powered sub out. With your sub and that receiver, you will need another amp to drive the sub. It also doesn't look like that receiver likes 4ohm loads, which some of your speakers seem to have. I'd probably keep looking...

I can see no reason why the main speakers would not work, the Ohms are well in range, and so is the wattage. However, as far as i can see, the Subwoofer is passive (uses power from the amplifier), and the output of the Yamaha is a line level output, so you will not be able to use the Sub. You would need an 'active' Subwoofer (one that has its own internal amplifier) to use on the Yamaha.

That's a shame, but can't do without the thump of a woofer, so I'll continue my search. Cheers, guys.
