I bought my laptop last year and download gta. First time, i can play it smoothly in medium settings. I got bored of it after so i delete it. Lately i have reinstalled it but i can't run it as smooth as it used to be. I keep getting fps drop and lag. Is there any way I can improve this guys, pls help. I also notice my pc is running slower than before.
My spec:
Intel core i5 6200U
8gb ram DDR3
Nvidia geforce 940mx
windows 10

I also update the nvidia control panel and nvidia experience i think

Solution
run windows defender to check for virusses. virusses can slow down your laptop a bit. also, go to task manager--> start-up and disable programs you dont use so that they dont run in the background causeing slow downs

Solution
Check your power settings. It should be on Performance or Balanced. Sometimes people accidentally switch it to Power Saver, which substantially reduces performance.

Get a hardware monitoring program like HWiNFO or HWMonitor. What are your CPU temps? A gradual slowdown in performance over time on laptops is usually a result of the heatsink vanes and cooling fan becoming encrusted with dust. This degrades the laptop's ability to keep the CPU and GPU cool. After enough dust accumulation, the CPU will start to throttle to keep from overheating, resulting in decreased performance. The fix is to turn the laptop off, take it outside, and use a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the fan and vents. I'd recommend doing this every 6 months with any laptop. If you allow the dust to build up too much, you may have to take the laptop apart to clean it out.

you could download hardware monitor. just google it. it is free i believe and doesnt need an account. "normal" temperatures depend on the situation, if your using you laptop on your lap then it tends to get hotter then when it is on a hard surface. if your computer is around idle or when web surfing, it shouldnt be higher then around 35 degrees celcius at max. you could also just feel if it is too hot, if it gets uncomfortable to use then you its on the hot side. if your laptop is older then 3-4 years then you could consider reaplying thermal paste to the cpu. what also helps is opening up your laptop every year or so to clean the fan and heatsink.
