Good Day.

I have got a Zenbook UX301LAA i7 4510U variant, it has 2x 128gb ssd's in raid, when i got it it was already formatted and if i try to install windows 8, 8.1 or 10 from a usb it would just boot into windows setup and when click next on 1st screen it would crash with bsod and every time a new bsod error. one time it went all the way installation and crashed at getting ready at last step of installation, the list of bsod errors as follows, some of them i forgot.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL,
ntoskrnl.exe
kernel security check failure
wdf01000.sys error
ntfs. something i dont remember
kmode exception not handaled
page error on not paged area
irql not less or not equal
page dumped because nonzero count or mapcount
bad page state in process
system thread exception not handaled
kernel tread priority floor violation
system service exception win32kfull.sys

Always hangs for a split second or less before bsod. if goes further sometimes then i see some colored pixels here and there on screen which are not there in bios.

so is it hardware or software problem, is there any chance i can get it working, is this ram defect or ssd, i did went few times into cmd from repair this pc option and i did used diskpart and it was able to format and create partitions, also i got it formatted in windows installation,

changing raid/ahci options wont help bsod, both ssd's detected in bios and also formatted few times in same laptop, bios version 211 as asus website says its latest.

looking forward for any possible help, WINDOWS TO GO ALSO ENDS IN BSOD AT STARTUP.

THANKS

Hi,
Yes i used media creation tool and did deleted all partitions as it was already deleted so i did again and made new one as we normally do in windows installation with single hdd or ssd.

i made some changes in my post, i would appreciate if you look it again.

thanks

Admirable
if you've still got the ISO use Rufus http://rufus.akeo.ie/

If this has an UEFI BIOS select GPT partition. If it doesnt select MBR. Add ISO then start. Wait for it to finish then boot from it

If it crashes again I would try another flash drive. This one maybe faulty

i just delete them and then click make new and make whole one of 118gb and it creates few extra small for system recovery and then same for the other drive,. but now i can not go to that step, it gives bsod as ssoon as it boots into windows setup and i click next,

Good Day!

i made new USB , windows 8.1, windows 10, and windows enterprise to go, with rufus. when trying to install windows 8.1 with usb i am getting errors followed by BSOD's..
Your PC ran into problem and need restart, we will just collect some info.

ntoskrnl.exe
Memory Managment error
system thread exception not handled.
Kernel security check failure
missing ACPI.sys
kmode exception not handled
ACPI bios error
config/system

i dont know if it is hardware or software problem, or a bad bios? the usb i am using here boots other pc perfectly fine, and i just bought 2x new 32gb usb 3.0 and it has the same problem, so the usb sticks are fine only the laptop has problem, what is it ,,,???

Thanks

Good Day.

A similar problem mentioned on a russian site with lots of bsod's as i have, the translation of the solution is here,

"""""""Guys problem as it was, and more precisely the source of the matter is that with 2 SSD disk of 256Gb configured in RAID as one 512gb, after bSODa usually discarded in the Bios menu when restarting back to Bios, had forced through a key holding off and only after he was run in normal mode, I noticed that after BSODa under BOOT becomes empty, clicking the Advanced menu in the SATA section of the Configuration, I saw that one hard fall off with the RAID, respectively, and the overall Boot suffers, it explains so many different Blue screens, here tep pb should be savvy can update the Bios, it was too expensive laptop blah ... (100k) and spoils the overall picture is that the Director General on work reasons can not pass it to me for a long time. Thank you all for your answers.""""""""

link to the thread.

NOW. I TRIED UPDATING BIOS USING EASYFLASH IN BIOS BUT IT WONT RUN IT BECAUSE IT SAYS BIOS FILE SAME OR OLDER VERSION, I ALSO TRIED WITH WINDOWS98 BOOT CD THEN USED DIFFERENT LIKE AFUDOS, AWDFLASH BUT IT SAYS BIOS FILE SIZE IS DIFFERENT AND IT WONT BOOT, IS THERE A WAY TO FLASH OLDER OR SAME BIOS VERSION AGAIN..

tHANKS

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Frank07 : "UX301LAA BSOD as sson as boots to windows setup"

HI,

Ok i just tried with external pointing device, bluetooth, card reader webcam, mouse simply all disabled and when boots in to setup then as soon as making transition from circling dots to next step end up bsod with error
if SATA as IDE then driver/cng.sys error
if SATA as RAID then driver/ql2300i.sys error,
if SATA as AHCI then driver/wdf1000.sys error

but i have seen too many error as mentioned earlier but these are new after disabling some hardware components. just wanted to make sure i downgraded bios to 210 and then checked no luck then again updated to 211 which is latest as per asus website.

Good Day..

Booted into miniXP via hirens boot usb and then playing around diskpart, tried then few times with different disk setting now the installation goes till 90, 96% and then crashes with NTFS and pfn list currupt and ntfs file system error. and one time it did asked for manufacturer disk drivers which means i think the raid driver,

Is there anyone who might help with recovery disk for UX301LAA..? that is the last resort maybe or maybe not it would work.

Thanks

Hi.

Last night tested with memtest usb. The test just hangs with cpu error. Shall i bake it in oven or is it a faulty chip. Can not replace since chips are onboard. I did noticed the cpu gets too hot and few smd part near processor like a coil or chowk almost burn my finger..

Yes that's right, I am gonna give it a try in over, I think it would be processor since i see some colored pixels/ kind of artifacts on screen here and there as soon as it boots into setup or windows, i remember few years back holding a cpu in my hands while dusty and just a fraction of dust was on some pins, after running the pc i was seeing the same artifacts and after cleaning the cpu pins all was fine, so i think it maybe a cold lose solder joint, just a thought thou..will post after baking it.
