Does this sound like a dead motherboard?

My Asus ROG G750JM is the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned, laptop wise. All my Asus components in my desktop are great, so I had hoped for the same luck in their mobile sector. No such luck.

Anyway, its latest issue is that it shut down halfway through booting a few days ago. Not sure why, I guess it just decided that life was too painful to go on. Now, it crashes every time it boots, at the Asus boot screen. That's if it starts at all, because it requires about 8 hours in between presses of the power button to show any life at all. I have to remove the battery and let it sit, presumably for the CMOS battery to drain, or pressing the power button does literally nothing.

I figure the motherboard's toast. Am I right? Am I wrong? Why did I pay $1400 for an 18 pound paperweight?

Who knows.

If you bought it recently and still have the warranty I recommend using it. I've had an ASUS gaming laptop before myself it was the previous model or so to that one from around 2009 or 2011. I had my own fair share of issues with it and ended up doing my own fixes to it to make it work right. Just don't buy any pre-made stuff from those kinds of companies. If you are going to go mobile go with the reputable ones like Razr and the like. Pretty much anything Linus Tech Tips reviews is the kinds of models and brands you should be looking into buying when going mobile. (they have reviewed some ASUS stuff but that was mainly the super beast water cooled laptop things that was obscenely expensive and was more of a proof of concept project rather than a viable mass market solution)

Warranty's long gone, I'm afraid. If this thing is beyond repair, I'll probably just get something basic and cheap. I bought it as a desktop replacement, and still use my desktop for everything except sitting in class. Once you go triple monitor, it's really freaking hard to work on a laptop.
