Hi, I have an HP laptop product number J2X70UA#ABA and yesterday it just died on me. It's only 3 years old and we haven't even used it much because it died on us previously and we only recently got it fixed a little over a month ago.

When I plug in the power cord the LED light next to it which usually lights up with a white light rapidly blinks red. I've left it like this for several hours thinking maybe he battery just died and it's charging but when I try to turn it on nothing happens. I've tried removing the battery and everything and holding down the power button for 30 seconds like I've read online and that didn't work either.

I was thinking about buying a new battery for it but if it won't turn on without it even while being plugged into the wall than that probably isn't the problem is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
It sounds like your battery does need replacing. To answer the other question, some laptops won't run without the battery installed, other will. Yours may well be one that doesn't.
