Hi, I have a Panasonic LED TV VIERA TH-40C400A and a Baum sound bar connected via the optical audio output. I want to use a pair of Phillips Headphones with it but cannot work out how to do so as there is nowhere on the TV or soundbar for the headphone audio jack. My aim is to use the headphones to listen to the TV at whatever volume I choose, while my partner listens to the soundbar at a low volume (she cannot listen to the tvs itself because the sound quality doesn't work for her). Is this possible and if so, how? Thankyou.

Or this, it combines both the above in a single unit:

Read the buyer reviews and questions for confirmation that it will allow you to use analog headphones from an optical audio source, I already checked that myself before posting.

The cost is in the same ball-park as the total cost of the two devices suggested by helpstar, but a single device will look tidier than two separate ones I thought.

edit:
@Phillip Corcoran:
isn´t it an equal device like I posted?

If the soundbar has an analog aux input, the toslink splitter wouldn´t be necessary of course. But if the digital input of the sound bar will be used, the splitter will be necessary in all cases.

Thanks... I've been trying to figure out how that,ignited work... but don't think it will. It seems to me that whatever splitter I plug the TVs optical audio output into will have to have an optical out (to the Soundbar) AND an ordinary female analog audio out (to the Headphone base)...

Am I missing something?

No idea mate, I didn't compare yours and mine that closely. OP is happy with with the replies he/she's had so we'll leave it at that. Anyway, I merely suggested an alternative product, what the blazes is wrong with that?

Helpstar, you're right... just realised ...No optical OUT on this splitter... Doh!

Have also finally figured out how your suggested two options will work...

Thankyou!

PS it's she... not he
