I just received a used HP 15-f039wm that gets green dots on the screen (usually while watching videos). I connected the laptop to an external monitor, and there were no green dots at all, which led me to believe the cable to the lcd was loose from the motherboard. However, after unplugging the cable and plugging it back in, green dots are still there (wiggling the cable a little does nothing either). Any ideas for a fix?

Does the issue occur while in BIOS mode? If yes, its a hardware issue, if NO, then try and update the main drivers like the gfx, chipset, BIOS etc..
Try and reconnect the LVDS cable at both ends and observe.
If issue still occurs, then the issue may be between the LCD and LVDS unit and one of them may need to be replaced.

No, it doesn't occur in the bios. I have tried reconnecting the lvds cable at both sides, didn't work. Installing new drivers isn't doing anything either. Should I try a new lvds cable? Sorry for late reply.
